How wonderful that a site like this exists for me to post my query!
On Tuesday 23rd September 2008 I shall be visiting the area on a quest to solve a family mystery.
It involves an Alan Walden who lived we think with his mother on a farm in Wyatts Lane, Northwood in the 1950s.
He lived on a farm and I am informed by a local historian that there were only ever two farms in the Lane – Wroxall Farm which is now demolished and Furzyhurst Farm which I now gather is no longer a farm.
Mr Walden formed a romantic attachment to a German lady – and the rest as they say is history.
I would love to be in contact with Alan or anybody who knows or knew of him and can throw any light on this story.
Please contact me on visions1@talktalk.net or on 01202 528685.
Many Thanks

Dave here yet again…
After much help and detective work by the organisor and moderator of this forum, it now seems that neither of the former farms mentioned, were the home of our elusive Alan Walden, his mother and his beau.
I have a separate lead to follow up but meanwhile the appeal is still open for any old timers to scratch their greying heads and come up with an answer.
My information is that they definitely lived in Wyatts Lane – maybe the farm bit got garbled and it was next to or near a farm.
Thank you one and all for trying to solve this mystery.
Dave here again…
I am adding a small piece of extra information to the above in case it rings bells with anybody.
The German lady was called Edith Veal and she lived at the farm for a year or two, probably around 1953-54.
Thanks
