Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association – Isle of Wight Branch
.
Jennie Lewis and Doreen Gant of the IOW Branch of MND are proud to announce their 16th annual ‘Mum’s Memory Day’ event will be held on Sunday 8th March 2020 at Northwood House, Ward Avenue, West Cowes, Isle of Wight PO31 8AZ.
.
This Antiques and Collectors Fair is in loving memory of Mavis Summerfield who died of MND in March 2002. Doreen and Jennie, both living on the Isle of Wight, organise this annual tribute to raise much needed funds for the Isle of Wight branch to help local people living with MND.
.
Jennie Lewis, Chair of the IOW Branch, commented “There are three ways that people can help on 8th March. First and foremost, just by coming along and paying the entrance fee will raise funds for one of the branch’s first fund-raising events of the year. Secondly, by showing your support to local dealers and sellers – most of our stallholders are from the Island with the exception of two loyal supporters from the mainland who have participated in this event for many years. Finally, antiques and vintage items are a great way to be kind to the environment as things are recycled, upcycled and made to last!” Doreen added “Each time a celebrity is diagnosed with MND it obviously raises the profile of this awful disease, but also highlights how indiscriminately it can strike! We must never give up hope of finding a cure!”
.
The Antiques Fair will be open from 10.30am-3.00pm on Sunday 8th March 2020 selling a wide variety of goods including furniture, books, jewellery, silver, vintage items, garden antiques, china, glass and much more …
.
FREE valuations will kindly be provided by well-respected local valuer Tim Smith. NB – Valuations between 11.30am and 1.00pm only.
.
Admission to the fair is £2.50 per adult with accompanied children free (all entrance fees are donated directly to the IOW branch of MND).
.
Tea/Coffee and Light snacks will be available to purchase with ample seating in the bar area for you to enjoy your refreshments.
.

The Isle of Wight branch of MND is run entirely by volunteers who give their time freely. We rely on donations to help us fund the ever-changing needs for people living with MND on the Isle of Wight. Research by the MND Association has revealed that a person with MND will need an extra £12,000 per year to help them cope with the differing requirements this awful disease may throw at them. This amount doesn’t include loss of earnings so every penny we raise on 8th March is vital to provide timely support for Island people and their families.
.
To find out more about MND see our local website www.mndiw.org.uk or come along on 8th March and chat to Doreen and Jennie – we will be in the main Ballroom area with our MND t-shirts on. We look forward to welcoming you to our 16th event.
