As an interested person who cares what is happening in our village I am concerned that wherever one looks, be it this Forum, Local Politics (with one obvious exception i.e. the Allotment Scheme) apathy reigns.
A small word, but the consequences of it are damaging to every thing it touches.
Let me give an example of where apathy is supreme;
on this forum in the period from 2.1.09 until present there have been 12,227 viewings but only 234 postings.
1.92% of viewings translated into posts. I find that disconcerting at the very least. 234 posts in a little under 9 months!
What is happening to our sense of community? Is the lack of input just people being lazy? Too laid back to bother? There is an old British saying that ‘you can lead a horse to water but, you cannot make it drink’.
Is this where the malaise lies?
With the exception of the usual posters, Our very own Cllr, withyskinner, N Yule, myself, ‘worried of northwood’
LOL and several others, who feel that they cannot end their post with something that can at least indicate male /female; I would hate to be a postman with all these ‘Mr Anonymous’ in the same village
Joke.
Maybe when the elections come round we will see an explosion of threads all looking to bolster their vote, or support a nominee?
There is no malice in my post – I am purely asking what I believe are pertinent questions that require some input from the community.

yes apathy rules long live the king, or Queen. it dosnt matter as most people dont care.
Curmudgeon you are welcome to trade views on this forum, it is clear from your grasp of the English language that you have the ability to debate a cause that you believe in. Stay on board the alternative view will be a pleasure to read.
Although posters have freedom to state their case, comments such as the post previous to your own do nothing for them or the subject they are labouring on behalf of.
We can only ask…

Oh dear! I can see the concept of irony with respect to this thread’s topic is lost on my audience…. For the benefit of readers I include the following:
Irony is a literary or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance between what one says or does and what one means or what is generally understood. Irony is a mode of expression that calls attention to the character’s knowledge and that of the audience.
There is argument about what qualifies as ironic, but all senses of irony revolve around the perceived notion of an incongruity between what is expressed and what is intended, or between an understanding or expectation of a reality and what actually happens: the literal truth is in direct discordance to the perceived truth.
I shall have to find some other threads on this forum to enliven!

You ‘might’ care when one of ‘your’ relatives falls onto the broken beer bottle near horseshoe close garages…………….but I wont ! Hope it hurts !
Who cares?
Used to worry once, but what’s the point anymore?
Anyway, I expect the Daily **** / ******* will have an opinion for me to repeat as my own tomorrow.

I understand what you are eluding to, but I for one dont want my ‘patch’ targeted by unruly, anti-social teenagers………….and I would guess, Im not alone in wishing to remain anonymous from ‘public global’ viewing. It all comes back to apathy from the Police……….. and lets not forget ‘parents’.
As long as the teenagers are not drinking and smashing bottles in ‘their back yard’ its OK by them I guess. Anti-social behaviour down on the Isle of Wight ?………..Which part I wonder……….cos its not Cowes or Northwood !!!! Withyskinner
I am sorry to say its not just Northwood it rules.
The problem is when nobody appears to have a view “them in power” honestly belive they have their finger on the pulse and all is fine and dandy.
I have never believed an abstention at voting time is a yes vote, or it can be ignored.
I would also like to see more use this Forum and if as a reader they find a post that has a point of view they agree with or not, why not enter a line or two, also as you dont use your email address and its not essential to sign it with your name, identity is not an issue, the point of view is more important.
The silent majority certainly talk about the issues to each other, if not the “masters”.
