Have you seen any owls in Northwood or Medham?

Posted by Admin on 19 April 2006, 5:04 pm

A lady stopped me on Easter Sunday morning on Medham Farm Lane while she was walking her dog and told me that she had seen an owl in the area around Medham Farm. She did not know which type of owl and I did not think to show her the pictures in my field guide so that she could narrow down the options. Have you seen an owl? Which type was it, and in which area? Did you see it during the day or evening?
Please contact me by email (debbiepledge@hotmail.com) or post a message to this list if you can help me in my attempt to see owls in the village.
Thanks. Debbie

I have seen a Barn Owl a couple of times when walking across the footpath between the Scout HQ and Pallance Road. The sightings were in the late afternoon.

If you go for a walk over the fields from Pallance Lane to the Forest or to Hillis Gate Road you may be lucky enough to see a Barn Owl.

Just as it is getting dark, it goes up and down the field, quite low.

It is quite amazing! Good luck!
