The new statement at the top of the Forum site is in my opinion most timely and pertinent.
This Forum should be used responsibly without the need for anonymous unpleasant diatribes etc.
Indeed I suspect some postings may well have been refused in the past so may I say “we have been warned!”
Best wishes
Cllr Roger Mazillius.
PS If you don’t like this, set up your own site and X#!*** away to your heart’s content!

Thanks to Mr. Pound for his kind remarks which like “Curm” I assume should have been posted on the Northwood House thread.
Whilst on that subject, I think there may be some news of interest to “Northwoodhousers” in the reasonably near future.
Best wishes to all, Roger M.
Oh dear!
I think you are in the wrong lane chum….
This one is about grown up postings.
As long as it’s not libelous or personally defamatory, let’s have it all. Why should this site be different to all the other forums (fora??) in the World?

I agree with the Roger after all he’s done an awful lot for the Island and Northwood. Why is it that respected people like our Cllr are not sitting in a trustee position. I know it’s about an historic house but surly such a cllr can achieve were others have not.
D Pound
Thank you for the positive responses to the amended statement in the Forum header.
It has never been and I hope will never be our policy to refuse postings to this Forum because the contributor wishes to remain anonymous.
Recently in a small number of cases I have approved postings which have turned out to be not acceptable to some residents, and for this I apologise. At the time I did not consider them offensive and approved them accordingly.
Unfortunately the software which currently drives the Forum does not allow retrospective editing within individual comments, so I cannot remove the offending comments unless the whole thread is deleted. If this is what it takes to appease those who are objecting to the postings, then I will do so.
There have been relatively few postings which have not been suitable for posting, and hopefully this will continue to be the case.
Thank you to everyone who uses this quite valuable facility – please don’t stop!
Anonymous postings are a bit like a secret ballot. Its the only way to get the ‘real’ point of view of those who normally remain silent. Perhaps for fear of intimidation or ridicule. We dont all have the ability to ‘stick our neckout in public’…..or we would all be Councillors. Good on em ! The person or persons that ‘vet’ the forum entries for Northwood Village I am sure, are capable of ‘weeding’ out the ‘bad eggs’. PS. If ‘anonymous’ entries were banned, then this posting would not have gone up on the forum…….and I believe (and I hope readers will agree) it is both true and constructive.
Many thanks to the three posters above with whom I am in complete agreement.
Posters will be interested to know that at last week’s Parish Council meeting, my seven colleagues all voted to ask the Village Forum not to publish anonymous postings. I voted against this blanket ban which in my view was undesirable censorship.
In the meantime, a Forum is only as good as its content, critical or praising, learned or stupid – variety is the spice of life!
Tally Ho!
Roger M.
Blimey Roger………..you have frightened off all the ‘manure’ stirrers and graffiti artists !
Perhaps we can get back to some ‘constructive’ debate.
May I add my support to the Cllr’s post above, whilst I retain the right to question, query, and generally seek answers to issues that concern me in relation to Northwood and the Island in general.
No one should be subjected to poor comments in bad taste that hide behind anonymity, my own views are that posters should at least be prepared to put their initials on any post they submit. But I am aware the ‘Moderators’ are not prepared to insist on this.
May common sense prevail
G R Cotterill Northwood.
I am sure you are right about a few postings being refused but that is fine by most people if they are obscene or unfair.
But I hope the censorship is kept to that and not a way of stopping fair criticism of people and things that affect our lives.
Other than the odd childish remarks i think most of the posts have been well placed. Criticism of people in public life is never far from most peoples thoughts, and politicians certainly spend most of the day doing it, it goes with the territory as you are well aware Rog. even “Newby” Paul had his collar felt by Charlotte Hofton in the County Press today reference his speaking manner and wardrobe mistress.
LONG MAY WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REPLY. Yes I did shout that but it was for the right reason.
