Hi
I wonder if anyone remembers Ethel Jenkins who at one time lived with her family in Pallance Cottages. She married and had two sons Barry and Rodger, her husband died and she remarried to Matt who played in a brass band in Cowes – I believe he was an ex-navy chap.
She did at one time live up by Three Gates in the round-shaped cottage but I think she and Matt moved back down to Pallance Road to a bungalow, and he had retired by then and raised rabbits in a large battery type erection in their back garden – I am talking around the mid-1970s then.
I think that Matt had at one time had a stroke, and had recovered but was still slightly disabled. Ethel was the youngest daughter of Beatrice and William Jenkins. Beatrice I think was instrumental in getting the W.I. going in Northwood before WW2.
I know it’s a long time ago but someone may remember them. The Jenkins family lived in and around Northwood and Gurnard for generations. They are also related to the Bundy family.
Hopefully
Mrs Jackie Walder of Rainham, Kent.
