Lack of Forum posts

Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, 7th December 2011, 17:53

Why has it gone so quiet on this Forum. The topics we talked about are still going to give us a problem if we don’t make our views known and this was and still is a way of getting our view seen. I know some think it’s a waste of effort but I know it’s read by many of our Council members and not just those that live in Northwood. So come on fellow villagers it’s back so why not use it or we may lose it!
I don’t like the way this new Forum sticks the latest reply on the end as some people may have a quick look and think nothing’s been sent for weeks. Can it be changed?

Still not much is being placed on our Forum. I am sure we still have people concerned with the way things appear to be heading with the building of hundreds of new houses in and around Northwood. I have read the gurnardpc.com web forum in the last few days and they are still worried about the land beng put foward for development in the Gurnard Parish and the lack of interest of those that are representing them. Our concerns are just as real and I hope we voice them loud and clear.

I cannot answer for all but on the subject of local housing development I have frequently updated Northwood residents through my monthly reports in Northwood News.

We expect the Planning Inspector to report on our Island Plan Core Strategy this month or early in January. This will cover amongst other issues the amount of new homes needed up to 2026.

After this the Council will consult on specific sites put forward by landowners as suitable to meet this expected need.

Residents will recall I called a public meeting at the W.I. Hall earlier this year to explain what was going on in Northwood and I, supported by the Parish Council, responded as part of the public consultation on the Core Strategy to the effect that the sites provisionally identified within Northwood were not suitable.

After the Inspector’s report is published we will all have the chance to comment in detail on these sites as they are up for a full evaluation. I will ensure that residents are aware of this opportunity to comment further.

So watch this space, my Reports and the County Press for further information.

Residents are always welcome to contact me direct via roger.mazillius@iow.gov.uk or write to me at 21 Oxford Street, PO31 8PT or Tel: 01983 295556. In addition I will be calling another public meeting in the New Year.

      Best wishes to all,

      Cllr Roger Mazillius.

PS – And of course via comments on this Village Forum!

The comments now appear in reverse order, i.e. latest comments first, unless a commenter replies to an existing comment rather than to the original thread, when the comment will appear beneath the relevant comment.

Thanks for your comment; an article has gone into the October edition of Northwood News advising that the website, including the Forum, is now running on a new platform. This is the first time this has been advertised so it may be that some people simply did not know that the Forum was back up and running. We’re hoping this is the case and that people will use it as it has prompted much useful debate about several relevant local issues, but of course we can’t force people to use it!

Regarding your comment about the order in which comments are displayed, I’m on the case …
