1.Take Note of Inconsiderate Parkers.
2.Tell Horse Owners where to Ride.
3.Skateboarders?
4.Noisy Dogs.
5.Kids Misbehaving.
6.There’s even a complaint about Seagulls?
Where will all this stop? Bring on 1984 – let’s get it over and done with. Everyone must be ‘chipped’. There will only be One TV channel; Our views recorded on data bases; (sic) This probably happens currently.
Joking aside, all the petty restrictive rules that come tumbling out of the very folk who are in place to make our society a better place to live, do they really think that a society that is ‘controlled’ in this manner will provide a better place for our children and their children to grow up in?
There is no doubt that the British way of life was so envied by many nations not so long ago, but that is no longer the case. We are seen as whingers and moaners. Everything that made us proud and was fought for by our forefathers, is in the process of disappearing.
What is this doing on a Village Forum you may ask; well in my view, and in another poster’s view, at local level we are over-governed. Everywhere you go there is a plethora of signs, the vast majority restricting our movements and controlling our very existence. Every spare piece of land, even if it currently has a garage on it, is being built on. The free open aspect of the village will in a very short time be tight ribbons of housing, gardens will be eaten up as they are sold off to make a quick profit.
All we get from the local burgomasters is ‘well we are only carrying out the government’s will’. Not good enough.
Do we want to carry on in this way? What is the solution? Or more importantly does anybody care?

Life is full of problems.
Its good we debate what others feel is trivia because I feel those that say nothing and never complain about things that are not as they should be only get taken for a ride. Its a fact some people and not just kids, still do what they want. Drink driving, drugs, stupid parking, speeding, loud noise at night and much more are only controlled by the nanny state because with out control your life and mine would be a whole lot worse. Its funny how some politicians are convinced “the silent majority” are always happy with the state of play. In reality most people dont like to get involved as its easier for others to take the stick and as my dad told me as a kid, in life you get what you deserve, no pain no gain.
A good example of that is the 25 Vesta workers making a stand, how many of the other 600 employees were brave enough to risk all.
I wish them luck and at least they can say they tried to change a bad decision that will have a negative effect on many on this Island for years.
These people voiced an opinion is that wrong too.
Jackhenry it all goes back to lack of parental control.
The reason we have had so many rules and restrictions thrust on us is the last 20 or so years is that the TV, games machines and now the Internet have made it so easy for parents not to teach life skills and discipline to their children. Some parents take the easy way out and blame the lack of discipline at the schools.
I am amazed that many families never even sit at a meal table together, except on Christmas Day.
The TV is on all day and some tell the children to “shut up ” if they interrupt a soap.
The education is then done later in life by the Legal system, do this and we will punish you with a fine or points on your licence, and they even whinge about getting caught.
I have two children in higher education and they have both been brought up without “slapping” but they did get taught right from wrong so if Im lucky the “moaners” wont have so much to moan about to them in the years to come but if they do at least we tried.
I think the last post says it all. My point proved.
FYI I am English,
I do not support BNP nor UKIP.
Believe firmly in Transparent Democracy and the right of free speech.
Most importantly I believe in the right to question those who govern in my name.

Were you on ‘our’ side ?
In true myopic tradition the above poster concentrates on the opening contents inserted with a more than slightly ‘tongue in cheek’ manner.
Lighten up and give the main thrust of the post a chance to be digested and or disposed of.
Quote: ‘Er Sorry ?………….Who is whinging?’
When read within the context of the sentence it is plain that it is a generalised comment pertaining to the British mentality in the 21st century.
Its little wonder people are blasé about local issues when any attempt at widening discussions are dismissed so easily.
I will still try to engender debates and exchanges of views through this forum; even if you don’t like my views…we did fight a world war to protect my right to express my opinions.
Er Sorry ?………….Who is whinging ?
1. Inconsiderate parking is potentially dangerous
2. Horses should not be on ‘main’ roads (and should pick up their ‘mess’…..and have lights fitted !)
3. I wish I could
4. Im woken up at 7:10am EVERY MORNING !
5. Kids around here are OK
6. Seagull ‘mess’….that complaint was just plain stupid
