Dear Friends

Almost two months ago I had surgery to my foot, which meant I had to take time off from ministerial and liturgical duties, in order for my foot to recover from its ordeal. I do not like being out of action from the work I love. But now that we have Keith and Rita as valued members of our ministry team, I knew that Rev’d Lyn would have no need to worry about getting cover.

So I relaxed a little and did things which I would not normally allow myself time to do. I actually watched, without interruption, a  live show of André Rieu and his orchestra, dancers and singers as they entertained a packed audience in Vienna. The orchestra had the music set before them, but they had to watch their mischievous conductor intently because he sometimes chose to change the tempo or hold a note much longer than the music indicated. So even the dancers had to keep their wits about them as they spun around in the Viennese Waltz. The conductor had a tremendous rapport with them all; and although the music was not always played exactly as the composer had written it, the orchestra made up a wonderful team as they pulled together giving pleasure and delight to the audience.

It led me to reflect on what team work is all about, because little did we know that soon after I had to take time off,  Keith and Rita would have unforeseen family crises and health problems and would need to take time off for themselves. So Rev’d Lyn was faced with the task of rearranging cover, depending on the cooperation of members of the wider team. They came up trumps; and although the "orchestra" was playing a slightly different tune to that previously arranged, they, conducted brilliantly by Rev’d Lyn, ensured that the life and worship of both church and community continued harmoniously without disruption. Three cheers for good team work!

I trust that now Keith, Rita and myself are back on form. So, along with Rev’d Lyn, we wait to hear from anyone who might need our help in any way.
