Following national advertisement of the vacancy, thirty people showed an interest in the position of Priest-in-Charge, of whom eight submitted applications. From these eight applications the Churchwardens from each church, the Archdeacon, the Rural Dean and the Bishop short-listed four candidates for interview.

On the afternoon of Monday, 21st March, the candidates met Churchwardens and were given an introductory tour of the three parishes. Later that day they attended an evening reception hosted by the Parochial Church Councils from each church. During the evening each candidate gave a five-minute presentation outlining where they envisaged areas of growth within the parishes and how they might achieve this. After the presentations some Church Council members fed back their perceptions of the candidates to the Churchwardens.

The following day formal interviews were held at the Rural Dean’s house. Each candidate was interviewed by a panel of all the Churchwardens; and by the Archdeacon and the Rural Dean. A recommendation to the Bishop for appointment of one of the applicants was agreed.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the new Priest-in-Charge of St John the Baptist, Northwood, All Saints, Gurnard and St Faith, Cowes will be the Revd Lyn McRostie, M.A., B.A. 

Lyn is currently working as a Course Leader at a ministerial training college in North London.  She has six years’ previous experience as a curate and parish priest within the Portsmouth Diocese, and an extensive background in public- and private-sector employment before entering the ministry.

We are hoping that Lyn will be able to move to take up her appointment in late Summer 2006.
