Northwood Community Partnership

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This will take place on Friday 5th Mayat 7.30 pm in the Northwood W.I. Hall. As funding from the Isle of Wight Council has been diverted from the Community Partnership to Management Committees, I see this as opening up new opportunities for our Partnership. For this reason, our meeting will follow ten days after the Management Committee have met, so that both groups can continue to work together (without any overlapping) for the benefit of Northwood.

Our guest speaker, LYNDA SMITHfrom Wootton Bridge Parish Council, will talk and answer questions from residents on how both groups can operate effectively. There will also be the opportunity to join the Partnership or, if you prefer, relieve some of us of our positions. All residents over the age of 18 are entitled to vote for our new Committee. Exciting Times!!

The agenda can be found here.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH REPORT
The Community Partnership, alongside Neighbourhood Watch are seeking to initiate a “No Cold Calling” scheme in Northwood, to mirror a recent pilot scheme undertaken in Brighstone.

Over the years we and the police have received complaints from residents  regarding bogus salesmen offering products on the doorstep. In the past this provided opportunities for burglars to break into properties. In Northwood we hope to be ahead of the game before this is rolled out across the whole Island. For further information contact John Pullen on 01983 281250.

NORTHWOOD – ISLE OF WIGHT VILLAGE OF THE YEAR?
After coming a close second for the last two years, Northwood will once again be entering the Calor Gas Village of the YearCompetition.

If you are interested in helping those of us with plenty of time on our hands(!) especially those not involved in formulating the Parish Plan, please give me a call.

PARISH PLAN LATEST
Councillor Roger Mazillius has asked that a local volunteer  takes over the Parish Plan Co-ordinator role and David Miller is prepared to take on this important role. I anticipate this will be approved at the inaugural meeting of the Management Committee followed by the Partnership Committee meeting at the W.I. Hall on Tuesday 25th Aprilstarting at 6.00 pm.

David is seeking volunteers to come on board, for the forthcoming Camera Project. The idea, which we ‘borrowed’ from Gurnard, will give any local resident who requests one the opportunity to photograph all that they love (and hate) about your village. It is hoped also that the School Councillors from Northwood School will take an active role in snapping pictures shortly.

The 40 single-use cameras which have been kindly donated by David Biles, will form the basis of a huge consultation process which will culminate later this year in a Questionnaire.

If you are interested in a camera please let me know!
