Northwood Floral Art Group

We meet on the last Monday in the month at the W.I. Hall, Northwood, at 7.30 pm and usually have about twenty of our members at each meeting. Unlike some other Flower Clubs, who have demonstrators most of the time, our members bring their flowers, oasis, containers and any required accessories at nearly all our meetings, to actually do flower arrangements. We have several sections – Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced, which also incorporates Senior Advanced. At the end of each session, our arrangements are marked and we learn what we could do to improve our efforts – it is always easier to see someone else's faults than your own!

At each meeting two of our members are asked to bring cakes – usually home made! – and make teas and coffees for the other members.  We also have a raffle to raise funds for our club.

Everyone who comes loves flower arranging, but we are always learning something new, whether you are a beginner or advanced member – well I always seem to be adding to my knowledge, and I have been a member for twenty-odd years!

Sometimes members come and do not do any arrangements, but it is still a social evening and they come and help others or sell raffle tickets!

We are a friendly group of people of all ages – we even have a gentleman member – so if you feel you would like to come and meet us, our next meeting will be held on Monday 24th October when we will be practising Christmas Crafts for our Show – to be held on Saturday 12th November, 2 – 4 pm at the W.I. Hall – it would be nice to see some new faces!
