The President Elisabeth Hamilton welcomed 35 members and one visitor to the meeting, also welcoming back several members who have recently been ill.

Jerusalem was then sung.

Apologies were received from several members and Birthday cards were distributed.

New Member Carol Jackson was welcomed.

Correspondence with several future events were read.

The next ramble will be on 18th March round the local Church with Lunch afterwards at The Travellers Joy.

Hopefully a trip to see The Calendar Girls being held at The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton in October and outings in August – one Island trip and one Mainland.

Details were given about our 84th Birthday celebrations, this is being held at The Sun Inn, Calborne.

Competitions Winners were – For the Chocolate Brownies – Denise Hunter and for the Best Bloom – June Burden.

The speaker – Mary Case gave a very, very interesting talk on Products of the Hive. Mary has been a Bee Keeper for 25 years and comes from a long line of Bee Keepers. Bees used to be kept in a Skep (a straw Bee Hive) until 1850 when the Rev’d Langstaff invented the frame hive still being used today and known as the Langstaff Bee Hive. The Queen Bee lays around 1500 eggs a day during the laying season. The worry about the decline in bees is still there, this being caused by a mite which feeds off the young.

Mary brought along a good selection of her products which members were able to buy at the end of the meeting.

Jill Mazillius gave the vote of thanks.
