Hi CNC,
I was under the impression that Year 5 table and chairs were distributed from Middle schools to all Primary schools. This is what happened at our school. In our school we had to do some re-arranging to create the facilities for Year 5 students, changing rooms more ICT equipment etc. I am sure if Northwood are going to use a portacabin then it is only a temporary measure while new facilities are constructed.
I know that Northwood Primary school is a fantastic school with excellent staff so even if a childs classroom is a portacabin (modern ones are very swish) the education they will receive will be to the normal high standards Northwood is known for.

the jungle drums are advising me that the school is struggling……………with not enough facilities or equipment to cope……….I hope it will not effect my Grandsons education !!!!!
Can ‘anyone’ reassure me on this subject’ ?? CNC
I am sure if the portacabin is a modern one the insulation and quality will be fine. The downside of these cabins is they are not connected to the main buiding and if the weather is wet you can get a bit damp moving to the main buildings.
We have a generation that are being raised in what in my day were called prefabs, take Thorness bay for example. Caravans or portacabins the building is not what gets the results as we may see in a few years time after this School shake up. Results are down to teaching not buildings and our primary and middle schools on the Island were the best, lets hope these “super primarys” stay that way.
