WELL DONE Carole. However you need ten local residents to trigger an election – see first posting on this thread. IF THAT IS NOT DONE BY THE DUE DATE NEXT WEEK THEN YOU CAN BE CONSIDERED FOR CO-OPTION.
I suggest you eamail the parish clerk at barbara.herbert@sky.com
Good luck, Cllr. Roger Mazillius
If there is still a vacancy on the Parish Council, I would like to be considered as an applicant

Thanks Graham and other posters. Good relevant comments.
Thank you Graham very much for standing up and being counted and for your contributions – albeit all too brief – to the Parish Council.
I sincerely hope that a new recruit will be found to make the number back up to the full quota. In the meantime, I can see an amalgamation of the three local Councils aas mentioned by Graham being definitely a better vehicle to deliver what we understand are the Coalition Government’s ideas about such localism delivering more services tailored specifically to local needs and wants.
It would in my view need such a larger Council to be able to do that effectively. I wil make enquiries about the feasability of this but I suspect that there may be strongly vested interests to persuade before anything “legal” can be done.
I hope to come back shortly.
As usual, best wishes to all, Cllr. Roger Mazillius
Thank you ‘Taxpayer’ for your kind words.
Interestingly well before my short experience on a parish council I held the belief that this island is over governed. What is needed are fewer district or parish councils, these to be condensed into larger amalgamated councils, the perfect example is on our doorstep i.e. Northwood,Gurnard, Cowes.
Using existing legislation new bodies could be formed e.g. Cowes District Council with no more than 12 councillors. This would if acted out over the island produce savings of some considerable amount.
This forum is not really an ideal place to set out every nut and bolt of what many people want in the way of local representatives. But I guess if the responses are lively and not full of bile then perhaps the idea could be moved on?
A final comment, it is on this issue that perhaps the most heat may be generated…. that of not signing posts!!
There is wide held belief in some quarters that if posts that are responding to serious issues are not signed then the views of that person is not taken into account.
What do other residents feel about this?

There is a sense of humour glowing through these comments………………..I like that ! Withyskinner
At least you tried it. I know that I could not handle the way Small PCs work with out even trying, but some can and do, I make no judgement on that.
I think a bigger local councils (Cowes, Gurnard and Northwood) with ballot box elected reps is the way to go.
Taxpayer.
Now boys and girls play nicely, no jumping to conclusions.
Be assured, I left of my own volition
I decided that it was not for me. End of topic.
