Cowes Radar Ex-Employees Association (CREEA)

Your committee is sorry to inform you that, until further notice, all future meetings of CREEA have been cancelled following advice from the government.
You will be informed as and when we can continue our programme.
Your committee wish you all a safe isolation from this terrible virus.
We hope to see you all in good health when we resume our programme once more.

We meet at the Isle of Wight Community Club, Park Road, Cowes:

CREEA Programme 2020

The programme may not show Island or Mainland trips which will be advertised when appropriate.

Any further changes to the year’s itinerary will be added to this file so you can download and print an up-to-date version if required.

This Association was founded in 1978, open to the retired employees and their spouses/partners from all the PLESSEY RADAR sites but primarily those from COWES, Isle of Wight.

Whether the company in your day was called

Decca (see The Decca Legacy)

British Aerospace

BAE Systems

we welcome all ex-employees.

Since the take-over by BAE Systems, qualifying membership has been extended to all ex-employees from any BAE Systems site. To date we have a membership of 57 with eight new members joining this year.

Our programme of monthly meetings has, over the years, seen members entertained by a variety of speakers on subjects as diverse as the “Photography of Julia Margaret Cameron”, comedy scriptwriting by Island resident Raymond Allen of “Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em” fame, conspiracy theories concerning the Titanic, and a talk about HMS Warrior.

Other activities include quarterly lunch dates at various venues, an annual Christmas Lunch at various venues, a New Year Lunch in the New Holmwood, Cowes, and visits to local and mainland (Southern England) attractions.

If you’re on Facebook, take a look at the Plessey Radar Cowes Group, where you will see hundreds of old friends and ex-colleagues sharing anecdotes and photos from their time at Plessey.
