The Association was started way back in 1945 by Mr ‘Skipper’ Saunders, the Headmaster of Northwood Primary School to support the DIG FOR VICTORY campaign as part of the WAR EFFORT. This has meant over sixty years of GROWING AND SHOWING in the local community. During 2005 we celebrated our Diamond Anniversary with a celebration lunch.

Our meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at Northwood W.I. Hall at 7.30pm. With an average attendance of twenty-five members we have a wide range of speakers who give fascinating talks on many diverse subjects including gardening, local history, environmental issues, and travel, and there is always, of course, a cup of tea.

In December each year the CARROT TROPHY QUIZ is held against Gurnard Cottage Garden Society.

Of course the main event of the year is the ANNUAL SHOW held on the last Saturday in August. There are classes for vegetables, fruit, flowers, pot-plants, cookery, handicrafts, floral art and children’s exhibits. ALL classes are open to residents of Northwood and District.

All our events are advertised in Northwood News and in the Village Diary on this website.

We are a very friendly Association so why not come along to one of our meetings. You will be made most welcome!
