Subject:	BAE SYSTEMS NEW DEVELOPMENT OF FIELD FRONTING THREE GATES ROAD/SOMERTON ROANDABOUT
Message:	I have now had an chance to see the proposal put forward. I thought it was a very slick and sometimes nausiating presentation. However, estimates given to me by the team regarding traffic causes some concerns. They claim that traffic along the Newport Road will increase by ONLY 120 cars per hour. There will also be an increase of commercial traffic, something they played down. As for the impact along Three Gates they again played these issues down somewhat. Clearly there are a number of very serious points that need to be addressed regarding the traffic increase. The round-a-bout at Somerton end of Three Gates and the provison of a safe crossing point along Newport Road need addressing. Closing the existing BAE entrance would possibly help. Lastly, Cllr. Mazillius appears to have nailed his colours to the mast in favour of this project. Might I suggest that he had waited until the views of the Northwood residents he represents were sought. This develpoment has some very good points but it will change Northwood forever and should be looked at with this in mind. Neil Yule
