As far as the landlord of the Horseshoe Pub is concerned, I [John Green] have done some research on this and this was definitely James Henry Burridge. According to the 1891 and 1901 censuses, he was the landlord of the Horseshoe in those years, and did not die until 1922 so could have been there until he died, when the Harwoods moved in. The 1911 census will probably confirm his residence in 1911 as being the Horshoe Inn and him the Landlord. (Only three years to wait!!) The people outside in the picture could have been his own family, as he had quite a few childen by his first marriage, and one child by his second marriage. In the second picture, the little girl standing with her mother in the doorway of the pub, could have been his daughter Grace, only child of this second marriage to Susan in 1897. All the pictures of the Horseshoe are pre 1910.
