Following the recent spate of threads on the forum that have raised the hackles of some, the questions I would like to pose are:
1. What do the residents of Northwood feel is lacking in their community?
2. With the coming election for Parish Council members, is there an issue you feel should be addressed?
3. Finally are you happy with the way the current council has performed, and are you satisfied that you have had value for money?
If local councils are to perform to the expectations of the residents, then they require direction!
Before the hustings begin make prospective candidates aware of what the village desires. Please give some thought to this, and post your aspirations via the forum. It does have a wide readership.
Kind regards

Yea, Ok……………I know the vandals are in a minority, but I think ‘any’ youth activity would be marred by their unwelcome presence. I must say, that I am full of admiration for the ‘footballers’ that congregate on the pitch on the Northwood play area. Sons (and daughters ?) to be proud of. And thats coming from someone who absolutely ‘hates’ football. Withyskinner
Hi ‘Withyskinner’
Normally agree with your sensible posts, but this on is so full of ‘negativity.
What modern youngsters require is a base from which to operate, enjoy themselves generally.
The events you spoke of are of cause not acceptable, neither is the yob behaviour of smashing bottles ect. at the entranceway to the Cemetery.
I don’t have an complete answer to this problem, but think bringing the youngsters on board and asking them what facilities are required to stem this type of action.

Surely a group of yourselves could get together and form an idea’s sub group whose brief would be to co-ordinate an outline of what facilities they needed, and to provide an outline submission to the Parish Council. (Preferable with some costings)
Make it look like the plan is well thought out and that responsibilities have been identified.
Draft Rules and Terms of Reference.
I believe the young of Northwood are more than able to work out and set goals.
Best Wishes

Any facility for teenagers would be a waste of money…………….most would rather spend all night drinking (etc) in Shamblers Copse………….and then smash their empty bottles at the entrance to the Cemetery on their way home in the morning. Withyskinner
Well CRC I think the main thing that is lacking in our village is a place for the youths to gather and socialize in safety, by that I don’t mean well lit street corners.
A village hall could answer that problem and find many other uses I’m sure.
I think even a youth club (wrong title for the modern teenagers) on a Friday night would be a start.
We oldies have plenty to do and some the transport and cash to do it.
